Creators

Artist, architectural draftsman, designer, writer, and administrator, E. J. Bird headed the Utah WPA Federal Art Project during the Great Depression. World War II propelled him into the fierce campaigns in the Pacific Theater, where he wrote the journal and made the sketches included in this volume.

After World War II, Bird wrote and illustrated several children's books, worked as a draftsman and designer, and coauthored numerous articles on the subject of art. He lives in Utah, where he continues to paint.
