Picture Storybooks

The real story of Little Red Riding Hood – told by the Wolf himself!

Recounted in the confidential, conversational voice of a New York wheeler-dealer, this funny version of the Grimm Brothers' Little Red Riding Hood is retold from a fresh perspective – the Wolf's! Full of humorous revelations and surprises, the story shows, as it unfolds, how a series of misunderstandings and accidents leads to his vilification.

Reviews

A funny, subverted retelling of the traditional story, which will have you smiling to yourself and occasionally laughing aloud.

Fiction Focus

“Forward’s fresh twist on the tale gives readers a spin-doctoring wolf intent on telling us his version of events…artist Izhar Cohen keeps the scare factor up with some unique super-sized perspectives of those famous ears, eyes and fangs.

The Dominion Post

Maybe, just maybe, like me you are a little suspicious of a wolf whose opening line contains the words, “Look at me. Would I LIE to you?” Put all your predudices to one side; let go of that jaundiced view and re-enter once more the world of Little Red Riding Hood.

Reading Time

A great book for young readers with a sense of humour.

The Illawara Mercury

The overall design of the book is appealing with strong colours and striking font type and size. This title is most likely to appeal to children from about the second year of primary school and would make an excellent read-aloud.
