Romance & Relationships Stories Fantasy & Magical Realism General Fiction

Violet Lasting is no longer Lot 197; she has escaped surrogacy and is on the run in the Lone City. In this sequel to The Jewel, Violet and her friends are fighting for survival. Nowhere is safe – and never will be – unless Violet can help Lucien destroy the royalty.

Perfect for fans of The Hunger Games and Matched, this is the second book in the Lone City trilogy, following on from Amy Ewing's shocking and compelling debut novel, The Jewel. Violet, Ash and Raven have escaped the palace of the Duchess of the Lake, but Regimentals are hunting for them across the city. Nowhere is safe, and they are dependent on Lucien and his secret society for survival. If they can reach the safety of the White Rose then Violet may be able to help Lucien in his plan to rescue more surrogates. For one surrogate, however, it is already too late. Violet's best friend, Raven, is pregnant. And in the Jewel, surrogates cannot survive giving birth.

Creators

Amy Ewing is a graduate of the New School's MFA programme in Writing for Children, and has a BFA from New York University. The daughter and granddaughter of librarians, she is a self-confessed high-fantasy nerd who meant to be an actor, but found herself a writer. She lives in New York City, where she spends her days writing, eating cheese and occasionally binge-watching The Vampire Diaries.

Reviews

The White Rose offered more depth into the world of The Jewel. The political and social tensions have become more obvious, and it is turning into a true representation of the dystopian genre. I still highly recommend that everyone read The Jewel – you’ll be so addicted, you’ll have to get The White Rose too! 4/5

The Book Addict

I really did like The White Rose. The book ended on another cliffhanger, and this one is even bigger than the one in The Jewel, and I’m really looking forward to reading the third book in this series!

Books for a Delicate Eternity

I thought The Jewel was addictive but I couldn’t put The White Rose down. I ended up finishing it in one day. I tried to make it last longer but I couldn’t do it.

My Life in Books

The characters interaction with each other was well developed and I found that I really enjoyed getting to know each of them.

Read Plus

The White Rose sets the scene for an incredible finale, engaging characters, a reliable storyline and what could be the last of the traditional young adult dystopian series.

Diva Book Nerd

I thoroughly enjoyed The White Rose. It was a compelling installment that won’t disappoint fans. And after that jaw dropping ending I am dying to get my hands on book 3, it certainly holds a lot of promise and I can’t wait to see how it all ends. 4/5
