Roof and Doors, Walls and Floors

This original fact-and-fiction picture book for construction enthusiasts shows how a house is built, from piles to framing to crossbeams, and explains the fascinating tools on site, through a quirky group of animal builders.

Emily Sheep has found the perfect spot for her dream house by the sea. She measures out the site and construction begins. Luckily she has friends to help: Roberta Elephant drops by with a shovel and an auger. Amanda Crocodile brings her drop saw. And Cordula Cow flies the windows to site with her helicopter. “It's really fun to watch you guys work,” says J.J. Wolf—before he hits his thumb with the hammer and eats so many snacks he gets a stomachache. But will the animals get the roof on before the storm comes? This funny picture book is full of the exciting vehicles and tools used on a construction site. It includes tidbits about architecture, facts about tools, and a group of animal friends with skills to admire and many enjoyable foibles.
