Meet the number one (and smallest) detective, Monsieur Mustard. Dressed to the nines, he is a charming and very famous crime-solving mouse.
Monsieur Mustard curls his whiskers just so, slips on his fancy suit, looks at the handsome front-page picture on the newspaper announcing his arrival in the city of Bath, and chuckles happily to himself. As soon as he leaves the house, he is mobbed by admirers, as usual. But just as he starts to sniff out his first mystery, everything seems to go wrong: his detective bag is stolen, he is knocked off his feet and his monocle shatters. It appears that not everyone is happy to have the world-famous detective in their city . . . With the help of new friends, can Monsieur Mustard crack the case before the villain catches him?
Creators
Inspired by simple shapes and stories found in everyday life, Charley Rabbit works with a combination of acrylic, ink and coloured pencils. When she isn’t sitting at her desk in her attic studio, she can be found playing Irish fiddle music, listening to true crime podcasts and dreaming of one day visiting Japan.
She lives near the river in the impossibly romantic, story-tale city of Bath with her own two personal cheerleaders; hairy dachshund Doris and husband Adam.

J’adore Monsieur Mustard! Such a lovable, braggadocious souris and main character. The storytelling is innovative and fresh and I loved the specificity of the characters’ quirks. The illustrations are exquisite (how can a page that is mostly falling coins look so nice?!) and there is such a sense of innovation and play on every page. And of course I loved all the comic book pages. What a talent Charley is!
