A stunning tale where myth meets science and magic.
Ever since Dr Rose was a little girl paddling in rock pools, she has always loved the sea and exploring the weird and wonderful creatures living there. Now, as a marine biologist, Dr Rose is in search of a sea creature rumoured to reside within its hidden depths; one that many speak of, but no one has ever seen – Carmella. With her team of scientists and explorers, she will descend to the unfathomable dark of the deep ocean in a slick submersible, to discover the incredible, and almost unbelievable, creatures that inhabit a nearly pitch-black world.

The Search for Carmella is hotly anticipated and Savage doesn’t disappoint … The story has a magical quality- and even more special is it puts a female scientist at its heart.

A dreamy delight from beginning to end, stunningly illustrated in such a way as to evoke the awe and wonder of possibility and reality. In addition to wow moments there are spreads that show the interior of the submersible making this, the author’s follow up to her debut The Search for the Giant Arctic Jellyfish another fusion of science, strangeness and mystery.
