Matt Oldfield grew up in Southampton, playing football with his brother Tom. The layout of this book was perfect for myself and my 13 year old. He has dyslexia so often finds large amounts of text daunting and puts him off reading. This book has a great mix of pictures, facts, stories, and statistics. It is put together in a variety of ways that is not a continuous block of text. Which helped immensely with my sons confidence, concentration, and interest to keep reading. Each section is fun and engaging whilst being easy to read and understand. I liked how it got you as a reader involved in choosing your winner at the end of the sections. This is an entertaining and fun book for any football fan.

With origin stories and top ten moments plus some great black and white illustrations throughout, we rate this series and are looking forward to the upcoming titles – Mbappé v Haaland and Pele v Maradona. We hope that we won’t have to wait too long for some female G.O.A.T debating too.
