Anthony Horowitz and Britain's top writers target children's illiteracy

A coalition of 545 of top UK authors, including Walker's Anthony Horowitz, has presented a letter to Number Ten Downing Street calling for children to be taught to read at school for an hour a day in an effort to address the worrying illiteracy rates, highlighting figures which show that one in five children in Britain fail to achieve basic reading standards at primary school.
