About the author

Lau Siew Mei’s first novel, Playing Madam Mao, was short-listed for the Christina Stead Prize for fiction in the 2001 NSW Premier’s Literary Awards. She was born in Singapore and lives in Brisbane with her two children.

About the illustrator

Lak-Khee Tay-Audouard believes that children have much to impart to us adults who have lost our sense of wonder. She hopes to share with the reader the joy of the seemingly mundane. Lak-Khee lives in France with her husband and two children. Her other books include Monkey: The Classic Chinese Adventure Tale and Singapore Children’s Favourite Stories.
