The Nanny Goat's Kid

By Jeanne Willis
Illustrated by Tony Ross

This hilarious and heart-warming book about adoption was shortlisted for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize 2010.

The Nanny Goat wants kids more than anything in the world. When she can't have any of her own, she adopts one instead, but he's different to the others. One by one, the other kids start to go missing, and everyone blames the Nanny Goat's Kid. Has he really eaten them? Or are the others just trying to make a scapegoat out of him?

  • Life sales for Willis/Ross collaborations are now over two million copies.
  • A great book for stimulating visual literacy - small children will love the fact that they can see that the Nanny Goat's Kid is a tiger cub, even though this is never mentioned in the text.
  • Jeanne Willis and Tony Ross won the Smarties Prize for Tadpole's Promise and Grill Pan Eddy was shortlisted for the Book Trust Early Years Award.
