Stranded

By Jan Ramage
Illustrated by Mark Wilson

The bay was awash with stranded whales. Their high-pitched calls filled the air. Ben had to get help.

Based on the true story of a town whose people saved 120 beached whales, Stranded is the story of one little whale, and the boy who risked his life to save it.

  • A beautifully told story of one young boy's unwillingness to give up in the face of seemingly hopeless odds.
  • Written and illustrated by award winners.

About the illustrator

Mark Wilson lives in Frankston, Victoria, with his wife Ros, two dogs called Kouta and Toby, and seven fish (at last count). He loved drawing from a very early age and also loved playing drums on his mum's upturned pots and pans. He also loved comics, especially The Phantom. He went on to play drums (and try to sing like John Lennon) in rock bands, including Piranah and Centerfold. Finding a 'real job' led Mark into magazine illustration and he began writing his own books in 2004. Mark now visits schools talking about his books and doing writing and illustrating workshops
