Six

By Karen Tayleur

Six by Karen Tayleur takes the reader into the lives of six teenagers on the brink of adulthood.

One car. One after-party. Six people, six points of view. But only one outcome. The story begins where it ends, in the aftermath of a terrible car accident. But something else is lurking behind the apparently normal lives of these Year 12 students. Five of them have found a body in the woods during the summer. When they report it anonymously, the discovery has implications for all of them. Relationships are developing and changing. All of the characters are facing the pressures of Year 12 and the spectre of the future. All of them have secrets and the way in which these are revealed is one of the many engaging features of this novel.

  • “Karen Tayleur holds the reader’s interest from the dramatic prologue to the very last page of this cleverly plotted, character-driven novel for young adults … Highly recommended.” Magpies magazine
  • "Karen Tayleur's coming-of-age story is both masterfully written and thoroughly gripping." The Age
  • “A real page turner, Six will leave you wanting more.” Dolly Magazine

About the author

Karen Tayleur was born in the western suburbs of Melbourne and moved to the eastern suburbs in her tweens. Reading was something she learned to do before she started school and it has helped shape the person she is today. She has had a variety of jobs including present wrapper, bank teller and ward assistant in a nursing home. She was a publisher at the age of 20 for the short story magazine Brave New Word and thinks nothing can replace the rush of writing except maybe reading a really good story. She is currently the Editorial Manager at The Five Mile Press and has had over 40 books published for children and young adults.
