Please, Mr Magic Fish!

By Jessica Souhami
Illustrated by Jessica Souhami

A beautifully told folk-tale exploring the theme of greediness.

A charming picture story on a favourite folk-tale theme – "Don't be too greedy". One day, fisherman Jack catches a magic fish. It says, "If you free me I'll grant your dearest wish." Jack and his wife only want their little house to be dry and warm. But soon they are asking for more and more. Even for a palace! They don't notice that each time, the sea is changing colour, getting stormier. And then, they forget to say thank you. What happens in the end? Maybe not quite what the reader expects.

  • Fresh and lively reimagining of a favourite folk-tale, known across Europe
  • Teaches children about the dangers of greed, in a fun way
  • A fabulous read-aloud story
