Pan's Whisper

By Sue Lawson

When you’re fighting to forget, what would make you remember?

Teenager Pan Harris is brash, loud and damaged. Ordered into foster care, Pan is full of anger at the mother who abandoned her, and the older sister who kept her from her father. Pan is certain that she knows the reality of her past – until she meets Hunter, the boy who understands her story better than anyone else, and who just may be the key to unlocking the truth of Pan’s memories. But are some memories best left forgotten? And is Hunter worth Pan breaking her most important rule? Never. Trust. Anyone. Pan’s Whisper is a haunting novel by award-winning Australian author Sue Lawson. Young adult fiction readers will be engrossed by this complex story of love, death and mental illness. In 2012 this book was short-listed for the Prime Minister’s Literary Awards, was a Notable Book at the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) Awards and won the Australian Family Therapists’ Award for Children’s Literature. For more realistic YA by Sue, read Allie McGregor’s True Colours, Finding Darcy, After, Dare You, Forget Me Not and You Don’t Even Know. Sue’s website is www.suelawson.com.au “An interesting book about why children may end up in foster care, with real insights into the difficulties of a childhood littered with complications.” – Reading Time magazine “Sue Lawson’s novels for young adults reflect her empathy, familiarity with their behaviour and knowledge of the disadvantages some have to contend with. Pan, the protagonist and narrator, is a convincing and memorable character.” – Magpies magazine “Pan’s Whisper is a powerful and moving novel from a talented writer.” – Aussie Reviews

About the author

Sue Lawson writes books for children and young adults. Her love for books began when she was a child on a farm in country Victoria where she spent her time reading, writing, listening to her father and grandfather’s stories and avoiding working with the cattle. These days, she's added stationery shops to her football obsession and when not writing, teaches and runs workshops for young people and adults. In 2012, Pan’s Whisper was short-listed for the Prime Minister’s Literary Awards, was a Notable Book at the Children’s Book Council of Australia Book of the Year Awards and won the Australian Family Therapists’ Award for Children’s Literature. You Don’t Even Know was short-listed for the Western Australian Premier’s Book Awards in 2014. Sue’s website is www.suelawson.com.au
