Looking After William

By Eve Coy

William needs a lot of looking after from his "Mummy", but he's got buckets of potential… a hilarious and heartwarming tale of role reversal.

Jump inside the imagination of one unforgettable "Mummy" whose charge – William – needs lots of care and attention. "Mummy" is in fact William's little girl, and William is the real parent. Children will adore following along as she turns the tables on William, but always sees his potential. When he grows up he could be an astronaut or a lion tamer or a famous chocolate maker, but his most important job is being her Dad. (And possibly being an astronaut, if she can come too.) Longlisted for the Klaus Flugge Prize 2019.

  • Knowingly funny game of role reversal featuring William and his "mummy" (a father and daughter).
  • A heartwarming debut from a new picture talent who perfectly captures those small but magical moments in family life.
  • Longlisted for the Klaus Flugge Prize 2019.

About the author

Eve Coy always loved to draw. She studied animation at Edinburgh University and became an Artist Biography working for Aardman Animation. When they lived in Bristol she would take her first daughter to the library which had a fabulous children's section, placed on shelves inside a boat. She and her daughter were frequent passengers on that boat, and as they worked their way through the shelves Eve became hooked on picture books. Eve gained an MA in Children's illustration from the prestigious Cambridge School of Art and Looking After William is her first picture book.
