In the sequel to the modern classic, Handa's Surprise, two girls count all of the exotic and exciting animals they discover as they search for their grandma's hen.

In the sequel to Handa's Surprise, Handa is searching for her grandma's black hen, Mondi. Every morning, she feeds Mondi her breakfast, but this morning Mondi hasn't come for her food. So Handa and her friend Akeyo begin to hunt for Mondi. While searching, they find two fluttery butterflies, three stripy mice, four little lizards and all sorts of other animals!

  • This picture book throbs with sunshine. A stunning book. - The Independent
  • ...simple, repetitive narrative...accompanied by bold, vibrant spreads. Handa's Surprise, published seven years ago, has become a classroom classic, and I have no doubt that this new title will become a firm favourite. - The Bookseller
