By Mo Johnson

Three lifelong mates, dealing with girls, families, growing up and drifting apart. Will their friendship survive such momentous – and inevitable – change?

An English assignment to write a letter as Mr Darcy from Pride and Prejudice gives Tommo the chance to prove that he is not a boofhead. Getting inside a chick's mind isn't rocket science – he can ‘do the sensitive male thing’. To prove his point, he becomes an agony aunt for his mum’s magazine under the pseudonym Carrie Edwards. Then his best mates Casey and Ed get roped in and things spiral out of control. Has it all come to an end for the boofheads?

  • Mo Johnson has a strong, contemporary satirical voice
  • An accurate depiction of the mind and language of teenagers that both boys and girls will enjoy.
  • "A highly realistic and well-written journey of troubled youth, living life to the fullest and grasping every opportunity by the throat ... A must-read." Fiction Focus

About the author

Mo Johnson was born in Glasgow, Scotland, but moved to Sydney in the early 1990s. She currently works as an English/Drama teacher at an all-boys high school. Her next book for Walker Books will be the picture book, Noah’s Garden.

"Teenage girls will enjoy reading Boofheads as it is almost like a primer on the behaviour of their male counter-parts but it will resonate most with boys fifteen and up. Mo Johnson, by the way, is a Sydney school teacher, which accounts for the authenticity with which this book is written."
