A 52-Hertz Whale

By Bill Sommer, Natalie Haney Tilghman

The most amusing and illuminating book about the human struggle for connection you're likely to read this year. Plus yetis. And lonely whales.

James is obsessed with whales. Darren is struggling to succeed in the movie business. This YA novel told through a series of emails explores the rich tapestry of human loneliness. Funny, illuminating, and heartbreaking, this is a debut to watch.

  • A clever and memorable debut that will certainly be a unique entry in the YA field.
  • A main character who clearly belongs on the Autism Spectrum but who is a full and fascinating character, not an object of pity or a plot point.
  • Funny, sad, and ultimately hopeful.
