Toby Alone

Reviews

Toby Alone has a good theme and plot. How it is written makes it all seem real. I think lots of kids will like reading it. It is a easy but interesting read, 9 years and up could probably read it. My favourite part was when they went into the mistletoe prison. Jack, aged 12
"With a plot that just sweeps you along, and a cast full of highly imagined characters, Toby Alone is a thrilling adventure story that all ages will find hard to resist; that it also has environmental relevance is just an added bonus." www.kidspot.com.au
"The illustrations are excellent line drawings and the translation is flawless." Newcastle Herald
"Fombelle’s portrayal of the darker side of human nature, and people’s readiness to exploit their environment for their own personal gain is unapologetically frank, but this does not extinguish the story’s over-riding optimism. It is easy to see why this beautifully illustrated book has won widespread critical acclaim and has been translated into 22 languages." Green Magazine
"deals with important and timely environmental issues that are packaged in an engrossing and fast-paced adventure. I couldn’t put it down" Good Reading Magazine
"Written with honesty, humour and warmt. This tale is certainly worth reading." Reading Time
