About the author

Gabrielle Wang is an award-winning author and illustrator born in Melbourne of Chinese heritage. Her great grandfather came to Australia in 1853 during the Gold Rush and so her stories are a blend of Chinese and Western culture with a touch of fantasy. A Ghost in My Suitcase won Best Children's Novel in the 2009 Aurealis Awards, The Lion Drummer was named a CBC Notable Book in 2008. Two new books have been published this year- a picture book, The Story of the Chinese Zodiac and a YA novel Little Paradise. Gabrielle is in the middle of writing a series of four junior novels to be published in 2011 about a girl in the Victorian gold fields.
