Down The Back Of The Chair

By Margaret Mahy

Join a riotous adventure when Dad sticks his hand down the back of the chair.

When Dad loses his car keys, toddler Mary suspects that they have ended up down the back of the chair so Dad begins to search. But what an odd assortment of objects are living down the back of the chair! This lively, eccentric poem is a visual explosion of fun and imagination, featuring dragons, pirates, treasure, lions, elephants and many more.

Review

"A cracker of a story. Based on Mahy’s poem of the same name, this is a fine example of language pitched at littlies who will be taken in by the interplay of words and images. The book’s design is outstanding with floating phrases and colours combining to create a rich experience…It is a superb read." The Canberra Times
