Eleanor Farjeon was born in 1882 and died in 1965. Her first book was published in 1916, a collection of poems called "Nursery Rhymes of London Town". Her next book "Martin Pippin in the Apple Orchard" made her famous as a writer for children. Her other books include "The Old Nurse’s Stocking Basket" and "Kings and Queens". The Eleanor Farjeon award has been set up in her memory, to give recognition to outstanding figures in the world of children’s books.
Anne Mortimer is recognised as one of the finest contemporary painters of cats. She is a member of the Society of Botanical Artists and of the Royal Miniature Society, from whom she received an honourable mention for the most outstanding miniature of the year. She has illustrated "Tosca’s Christmas", "Tosca’s Surprise", "A Pussycats Christmas" and "A Kitten’s Year" for Frances Lincoln.
