Amazons!

By Sally Pomme Clayton
Illustrated by Sophie Herxheimer

Could you be an Amazon? Do you have what it takes? Get physical! Dare to dream! Be creative! Listen to your heart.

Hippolyta Queen of the Amazons, Durga the Demon-Slayer, Al-Datma Princess of Egypt, Chi the Dragon-slayer, the Maiden Knight of the Northern Lights -- these are some of the legendary women who leapt beyond the limits of what was expected of them and fought to win. From China to Native America, from Egypt to Siberia, from England to India to Greece, Sally Pomme Clayton retells stories of strong women to amaze and inspire. But, she says, inspiration is not enough: the world needs more heroines, and modern readers inspired by her stories can build on Amazon qualities of courage and determination to take on today’s world.

  • ‘How to’ element will appeal to pre-teenage girls.
  • Exciting, vivid artwork reflects the different cultures that these women are from and matches the subject matter for strength and distinctive style.
