Ifeoma Onyefulu

Ifeoma Onyefulu is a Nigerian children's author and novelist. Using simple, clear writing, and the eye of her camera lens, Ifeoma Onyefulu reveals the rich diversity of African life and culture. In her previous highly acclaimed books Ifeoma introduced people to different aspects of her culture by exploring familiar themes like the alphabet, numbers, colours and the family. Children, feeling at home with an alphabetic approach or whilst choosing their favourite colour, can effortlessly absorb information about another culture -finding similarities and enjoying the differences. Ifeoma was brought up in a traditional Nigerian village in Eastern Nigeria. After completing a business management course, she trained as a photographer, contributing to a number of magazines. Each of her photographic studies of Africa takes months to complete - she and her children travel back to Africa, and walk from village to village, talking with people they meet, waiting to find just the right photograph. Her books include "A if for Africa", "Emeka’s Gift", "Welcome Dede!" and "Here Comes Our Bride" which won the Children’s Africana Book Award: Best Book for Young Children 2004.
