Gary Blythe is an award winning children’s book illustrator. His first children’s book, "The Whale’s Song", written by Dyan Sheldon, won the Kate Greenaway Medal in 1990. Of the book, Gary says, "This is my first non-fiction children’s book about animals, so just the subject matter alone has provided me with ample inspiration! Ice Bear was a refreshing change of subject matter and palette". With enormous scope, emotion and detail, Gary has succeeded in capturing the icy grandeur of the Artic. His other books include the terrifying illustrations for "Bram Stoker’s Dracula" (retold by Jan Needle) as well as "I believe in Unicorns", written by Michael Morpurgo. Gary lives in the Wirral, near Liverpool.
